| Being the daughter of a preacher, it's very comfortable to be in church. However, years of going through the motions of being a Christian finally had to end. I reached a point in my life in 1994, where I realized that I had not fully given my life to the Lord. I was a good person. Helped my neighbor. Honored my mother and father. But I just didn't have a relationship with God. Although I thought I was saved, I wasn't. Since then God has truly blessed my life after finding that personal place with Christ. Many times we get caught up in "peoples" religion and forget that we should "seek out our own salvation". Most feel we must be open and forward about our past, but knowing that our relationship with Him is personal makes serving Him so much more gratifying. When Jesus said we must come by the door, that didn't mean I had to let my neighbor know what I took with me to that door. Just simply that once I crossed that thresh hole, what I had brought to that door was gone, never to be brought before me again. In the flesh we get in the mix of talking about what people have done. Even when people get saved we never forget about their past. Instead we haunt them with that very thing God said would never be brought before them again. If we do this, do we have that personal relationship with God? If He doesn't bring it before us again, why should man? We see in our daily walk that we can't satisfy everybody; however, if we walk in His light then our trying will not be in vain, because we are suppose to be the shadow of Christ. Many times in the flesh we may fail, but His grace is sufficient. I'm not saying we can go out and do as we please. Because each day we commit sins of both omission and commission. The point we need to strive for is realizing when we do wrong not to let it linger on. We should stop right then and ask for forgiveness. We all sin and come short of the glory of God. Being perfect will only come to us when we enter that eternal home and put on immortality. Until then, we must press on to the mark of the higher calling which is in Christ Jesus. That's were I am. Pressing on! My prayer for you is God's will be done in your life. |
